Gavin 'Every now and then a really good idea turns up that makes everyone think, ''why didn't we think of that before?''.Well, I think one of those moments has just turned up on my computer. It's called MHAPS.'

Gavin Wright (Moving and Handling Instructor)

'As soon as I saw MHAPS I could immediately see the benefits of using the system. The staff find it really useful and easy to work with. It is easily understood and is particularly useful when we introduce new staff who can access resident requirements immediately. I had no hesitation in implementing MHAPS into two further locations and it is working really successfully across all sites.'

Alan Hood (Alpha Care)

'As a new manager, one of my first tasks was to look at the existing procedures and practices and see what improvements could be made.I implemented MHAPS immediately and think it is absolutely fantastic. Staff can quickly see at a glance what they need to do and this saves a great deal of time. It is particularly good for new starters or staff who are covering for colleagues and find themselves supporting residents who they do not yet know very well.

Staff really like using the system and always advise me when things have changed for the resident, for example if two carers are now needed instead of one. This helps me with updating the care plans and gives me an indication of how quickly their needs are changing and to monitor that change.

The MHAP also provides a great opportunity for family members to discuss with staff, the support their loved one needs. It provides them with reassurance that carers know exactly what is required to keep residents safe.'
